Solenoids engage the starter motor, if they fail you can still
start the machine with a bumpstart or if you have a kickstart.
When they fail you usualy hear a click when the starter button is
pressed, if this happens you should check it, these are usualy found behind
side panels or under seats.
| You can check the with a continuity tester, anywhere. You can
put a screwdriver accross the two connector pins. They will spark badly
if so make sure you have not spilled fuel, it might even melt your screwdriver,
but at least it will let you know which parts work or not. If it turns
the engine this way I'd replace the solenoid. I have got a few ways to
fix them, but to be quite hones, it's easier to get another one, either
from a dealer, or a breaker |
