This Triumph is a replica of a Triumph TR5 1948 in ISDT trim I built the bike in 2000 mostly from bits sourced at jumbles and it really has been my baby. The engine is from a Second World War generator which was used in among other things the Lancaster’s to power lighting hydraulics etc.
Their where no Triumph Motorcycles made during the war years due to the German heavy bombers rearranging the triumph frame shop. The engine shop survived after the war these engines were cheap in surplus and being aluminium barrels and heads were suited to higher compressions due to better cooling and much lighter than cast iron so found them in the early post war racers i.e. Triumph GP and the International Six Day Trial bikes.
I built the bike to use and most of the fittings are stainless steel including wheel rims, spokes, exhausts and mudguards.
